Ok i have been into photo and video editing for a few years now and working without a green screen can be so hard sometimes so i finally thought i have to get a green screen kit, I know i will need lighting too.
So i guess the question i’m asking is should i buy one of these green screen kits off ebay like the ones that say 6m x 9m kit with lighting, bulbs and AC.
I am willing to spend around £200 that’s around $325 for the americans who can help too!.
So for £200 or $325 what green screen kit should i buy, I can maybe go £50 ($82) either way.
Making videos will require the best lighting possible especially when you are producing green screen videos, as you will be doing things indoor. I suggest you try LED Lights to do the lighting. They are cheap, last a very long time and gives you a very bright light.
You can different color as well or get the white lights and cover them with different color sheets.
Try www.ledbulbsgu10.com for more info about products. Hope this helps.
For my photo class we are doing a 2 minute long green screen project.
I will be speaking while still images or videos are placed on the screen behind me.
I don’t know what to do this project on.
We were given options such as:
A city
top five songs
A place ( cedar point,…)
I just want to do something cool but I don’t know what to do it on.I have to be shown on screen 5 times minimum.
Do it on your favorite sport/hobby or something like that.
pictures of you performs that sport or hobby.
hope this helps!
and good luck
How do you make movies w/ green screen/chroma-key…i mean does the CAMERA matter, or the PC software. Can i just go out and buy a green screen & software for greenscreen, & keep my hard drive camera or what??? I’m guessing the camera has nothing to do with it. PLEASE HELP…
The way green screen chroma key work has nothing ot do with the camera. Once you have shot the footage and input it into your computer you will use the chroma key function in the software to replace the all the green with another shot. KNowing this make sure anything you want to be in the shot (wardrobe, props, etc. not be green or you will have wierd shapes of the background coming through on your shot.
so, it is not a necessary function in your camera all though some camera do have this function, but I wouldn’t use it.
Also, when you are shooting on green screen becareful of your lighting, becasue if you bounce some of the green screen back on your actors or props that will get washed out when you use the chroma key effect also.
Hope that helps, good luck.
I’m 13 and I’m really in to photography.
I want to know where I can buy a good green screen in stores around New York.
Please don’t tell me to buy paint and make one myself because I don’t have the time to.
If that’s not possible, then what do you recommend?
I’ve heard a whole bunch of people on Yahoo! Answers talk about several programs- some of them including Adobe Premier, Studio 11, and Pinnacle. What software is best for Green Screen/Chroma Keying, and what ‘green screen’ do you all suggest?
I currently have Intervideo Windvd Creator and Windows Movie Maker but they don’t have a green screen editor, as far as my knowledge extends.
Also, what are my background choices? Can I just input any image file and cut out the actors?
Thanks for everyone’s help- I’m making a movie and wondering what the Yahoo! Community has to say about programs. I don’t want to spend money on a program that is no good for my purpose.
Thanks again!
Thanks! That is helpful. Anyone else? ALL help is GREATLY appreciated!!! Best Answer is still up for grabs
Also- if I was to get Pinnacle, what version would I get? Plus? Ultimate? Studio?
Any more suggestions? How is a green sheet instead of a screen? Would that work?
How effective is the software Video Studio 11 by Corel?
Pinnacle is good. Its easy to use and you can choose anything you want as a background. You can also use more than just the green. You can also use a blue. I would suggest that you use paint or some really flat fabric. There are many web sites you can get the exact color for green screen.
Here is a great place to buy the paint http://www.filmtools.com/rosgreendigp.html
Hope it all works out
Does any1 know the green screen pixel color used in photography? E.g. for ‘pure’ green: the red, green, blue value is (0, 255, 0).
It’s not a specific color from what I’ve read. It’s usually a color that you can easily pick out of the scene. If you NEED to have someone wear a green shirt for example you wouldn’t use a green background.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chroma_key
I am not talking about the chroma key process itself. I know how to do that. What I would like to know is what program the weather people use to generate the weather maps and graphics themselves… and show them on air. They can do all sorts of zooms and other neat things. I would like a program that can do that.
The best thing for you to do if your that interested in the way the weather is done is to take classes in it and get into this yourself. People don’t usually know something like this unless they do it themselves. Go ask the weather channels or something.
to be specific i am looking for a car background that i could use on photo booth. like they do in the shows. i want to know how to use backgrounds without getting a green screen, so i thought of photo booth. the only problem is i don’t know how to make new moving backgrounds. HELP ME!! any sites??
I don’t
Something like a green screen just as a background for close up portraits. Something like Mitchell Davis uses (Look at portraits. http://www.flickr.com/photos/mitchelldavisphotography/show/)? Would I be able to use just like a white sheet? Please help me out!
www.adorama.com
they sell all you need.
If I cover my blank wall in this:
http://www.tubetape.net/servlet/the-404/Tape–dsh–Chromakey-Green/Detail
will it work effectively with green screen software?
Thanks!
Sure, that’s its whole point, but it would be cheaper to buy a muslin drop of the proper color, like this http://www.tubetape.net/servlet/the-Green-Screens–fdsh–Backdrops-cln-Chromakey-Green/Categories than covering the same area with the tape. The tape is 1.88 inches wide by 15 yards long so it would cover about 7.05 square feet which wouldn’t be enough to back up one person. The small screen on the link I gave costs about the same as one roll of tape and is 5 times as wide.
Are there any of the many free stop motion programs out there that have the chroma key facility?

I want to change the background on my photo? Or crop my self into another background. Is there a way to do this without buying/ downloading anything?
Pixlr is a good free image editor but doesn’t have chroma keying. (The green screen effect)
Although it does have a good "Magic Wand" Editor.
I take pics. of peoples pets and don’t want to go through the all the trouble of changing backgrounds all the time. so i’m wondering if they sell a green screen SOFTWARE so when i take pics i just can change the background from the computer. anybody knows if they sell this. and where can i get it from?
and if so which software is the best one to buy!
Though they call it "green screen", it does not really need to be "green", and many times it is not.
As long as the background is a solid color that does not appear as part of the person, animal, or object you are photographing, then any decent graphic editor is capable of doing what you want. Either through built-in functionality or the use of Plug-Ins. It is just a matter of masking based upon that particular color.
The GIMP is free and can do this.
.
I am becoming attracted to photography and would love to try green screen technology.
If you photograph a person or an object with a green screen as background you can simply use photoshop’s color range to remove the green screen. This works fine. Make sure during the photographing that the light on the green screen is very equal. This makes it easier to remove the green color. Since you select a color in your image and the program will remove that color and colors that are slightly brighter or darker from the color u picked.
Good luck =)
Im using Wax 2.0 as a program for my homemade green screen. I followed an instructional video and everything seems to work except for the chroma key. Ive changed the color under chroma key to fit blue=0 and green=255. When I change the tolerance, nothing happens. What am I doing wrong or do you suggest another free program I can use?
Don’t use that program…it sucks…use Vegas instead…I use it all the time.
I need to find some green screen software that will work on my Mac, either by buying it or downloading it…..not for videos though, I already have Final Cut Express 4.
ok, thanks….I never thought of doing a Screenshot ![]()
You can use FCE to do this. Just apply the filter like it was a video, then export as a photo. Also, a slightly easier way would be:
First apply the filter like the photo was a video.
Next, make the window in FCE that you are viewing bigger. (As large as you would like the photo to be.)
Now, press SHIFT+COMMAND+4
This will turn your mouse into crosshairs.
Finally, drag over the area of your picture. It will save the picture to your desktop.
What do you reccomend for green screen software
I haven’t used many other programs apart from Ulead Video Studio (version 11, but I think a later version is out now). I’ve used this for green screen effects and it works quite well. It’s got a TON of other features too (like editing HD videos with 5.1 Surround Sound editing, special effects, DVD Creators with animated menus, etc…)
That’s what I would recommend.
My friend and I love to make videos. I recently got a green screen, but it is only for digital photography. What is some good online, free green screen software that I can download onto my computer?
Is there any :S….. i know you can get them *coughs* illegally *coughs* for free
I have Vegas Pro 8, and a good camera and everything, but I can’t do everything I want to do in my videos until I get a green screen and a SFX program.
Of course, getting a green screen is no problem, but what it best visual effects program? You know, to create nuclear explosions, bullets, chroma key effects…
There’s extremely high end 3D programs made just for explosions and fire. It really just depends what you’re doing, After Effects is a composting program and generally works best creating 2D graphics, but it’s a very flexible program and can be used for other work as well. Most graphic designers would consider Vegas to be for amateurs, but there’s another program called Shake made by Apple and some consider it the equivalent or even better than After Effects, although it’s not quite as popular. I would suggest sticking with After Effects, but if you want to check it out…

Yeah.. Its odd. It takes a second to go to the camera {which is unusual in itself} and when it does the whole screen is green! And if I try to take a pic, it say that an error occured during photo capture.. Help! Thanks so much!!
i think there is somethin wrong with it…try 2 take it 2 a fixing person!!
okay so i do a LIVE web show every saturday night and we need an awesome FREE green screen software i have a green screen but the software stinks =( so i was wondering if any one else knows of a green screen software that records video and this will be pre-taped so i dont have to worry about it being live. i really need one though thanks =)!!!
That’s why it’s free. If you want something good, you need to pay. Good tech isn’t free. You obviously want your show to look better. Spend a few bucks and get what you want. Check eBay and look at TubeTape.com. What you’re looking for is Keying software or search for Chromakey. Good editing apps have decent keyers (like Premiere and After Effects).
I would like to trial run a green screen process for digital photography.
Until I know what the results will be like I don’t want to spend a fortune.
Does anyone know of any free programs I can use?
try wax 2.0 its free, and it can be any coloured background u like to change
I don’t have a lot of money, but I need a pretty good program. One that can at least do chroma key (green screen), color correction, and preferably motion tracking as well. What is the cheapest program that can do these things?
Preferably something legal, lol.
I use all free open source programs for special effects.See the reference for a list of the programs I use and some examples.
If I take photos using a green screen can I use Elements to remove the background and if so how do I do it?
Yes you can, but chroma-key screens are designed for video use, and they are really not that useful when it comes to still images.
The problem is that the screens can bounce back some of the green light onto the subject giving them a bit of green halo. With video that is very low resolution, (HD video is still only about 1/5 of the resolution of a photo) this halo isn’t noticeable. However with still images where people will look at it longer, it is more noticeable.
You would be better off shooting on a white background and just using the lasso tool to remove it.
I am good at animating but having a legal software for it would be easier, cheaper and faster. Please tell me one. (Must be legal)

I am going to college to get my BFA in computer graphic design.I was curious as to if a computer graphic designer deals with editing or using a green screen like for photography or music video creation.
No, but Media Arts DOES deal with green screen.
Im planing to make a video using that ust that
Also what other video editing software uses that option.

I’ve downloaded Wax 2.0 from the debug website a couple of times, but I am continuously having problems getting the Chroma Key to work correctly. I’ve placed the 3D effect along with the Chroma key in the proper order below the video file, but the tolerance will not adjust. Any suggestions? Are there other totally free programs that allow for the chroma key effect besides Wax and WMM? Thanks!
*sigh*
would it be easy and less money for me to just get a green Screen instead of buying a million backdrops and i jus let the person pick which backdrop they want…. and i jus add it in on photo shop…. or is that a bad idea… lol
its a bad idea.
why? simple.
its always easier to get it right with the camera than to rely on any form of digital editing. matching subtlety in lighting intensity, colors, sources and angles between foreground and background is very difficult even for extremely skilled users of photoshop and other image editors. more often than not you will end up with photos that look fake or unnatural.
if green screen was the answer for most photos there wouldnt be so many background choices or manufacturers.
